Uplift Aerospace (NRP Stone - Symbol: NRPI) is honoured to announce that Astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor (Twitter: @DrSianProctor) will be joining the Space+5 program as an official ambassador and mentor for commercial astronaut training.
Dr. Sian Proctor made history during the SpaceX Inspiration4 Mission from September 16-18, 2021, as the first Black woman to serve as a spacecraft pilot. Inspiration4 was the first human spaceflight comprised of only private citizens to orbit Earth. The crew and trip raised more than $243 million to expand cancer research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Dr. Proctor is also a geoscientist, explorer, artist, analogue astronaut & science communicator, speaking at engagements globally. She is a professor of Geology, Sustainability, and Planetary Science at South Mountain Community College and served as the education outreach officer for the first Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS) Mission, a NASA-funded analog mission for human spaceflight to Mars. Her artwork focuses on Space2Inspire Art to advance conversations about a JEDI (just, equitable, diverse and inclusive) space for humanity.
The Space+5 astronaut class will be working closely with Dr. Proctor to advance the Space+ mission to make space more accessible and diverse for all. Dr. Proctor will be attending in-person and virtual training sessions with the 5 Space+ astronaut candidates (Ruben Salinas, Joan Melendez-Misner, Mike Mongo, Sydney Hamilton, and Trent Tresch) to promote JEDI (just, equitable, diverse and inclusive) space for humanity, facilitate crew cohesion and bonding, and mentor the 5 astronauts as they prepare for their mission.
Space+ is releasing an NFT collection later this Fall called the Starborn collection, where the token itself will double as membership for real-life access to space including ZeroG flights, suborbital space flights, the International Space Station payloads, astronaut training, and eventually the goal of a community-supported mission to the Moon. Astronaut Dr. Proctor will be one of the first Space+ members to receive one of the NFTs from the collection and will be provided with an honorary astronaut designation.
Uplift Aerospace aims to integrate past and future astronauts into the Space+ project to create educational opportunities and incredible space experiences for its community.
