Uplift Aerospace (NRP Stone - Symbol: NRPI) is privileged to announce that they have entered into a memorandum of understanding with the University of Arizona’s Center for Human Space Exploration (CHaSE) at the Biosphere2. Together both organizations are collaborating on the development of a diverse and accessible spaceflight training program that will be delivered to Uplift’s first astronaut class.
CHaSE is a research and development facility at the University of Arizona focused on furthering the sustainable presence of humanity in our solar system and beyond. Founded in 2022, their mission is to foster the global space community through experiential opportunities. With access to world class facilities, CHaSE disseminates resources to students, industry, professionals, and the public. Their current programs and projects include space suit operations certification, space craft egress training, flight oxygen systems training, high altitude chamber training, and open source space suit components.
The first joint astronaut trainees under Uplift Aerospace and the University of Arizona will be the Space+5, a team of five individuals selected as commercial astronauts by Uplift’s Space+ Web3 Space Program. Ruben Salinas was selected by the Space+ community to be the first commercial astronaut for Space+’s upcoming flight on a Blue Origin New Shepard rocket. The Space+5 includes Ruben Salinas as the first commercial Astronaut and team lead, Sydney Hamilton, Mike Mongo, Trent Tresch, and Joan Melendez-Misner. The full Space+5 class is training to support the mission and will fly to space if additional opportunities arise.
